Welcome to CCTLA
Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association is the voice of and for Sacramento Trial Attorneys. Founded in the early 1950s to create a meaningful source of information about Sacramento juries, CCTLA has grown into an effective guild of trial advocates. CCTLA serves its members as liaison to the courts, as providers of meaningful continuing legal education, as a network of the exchange of ideas and experiences and as a representative to Consumer Attorneys of California.
If you are not a member, please read some of the following reasons below as to why you should join CCTLA.
June 3, 2020
As trial attorneys, it is our duty to seek justice for our clients. We can no longer be silent in the face of the overt racism that pervades our society. Across the country, the Black community suffers more than any other due to law enforcement violence. Bigotry and racism are literally killing Black people.
It is our responsibility to lead by example and stand resolute against the evil of racial inequality. We must acknowledge that our government and our police departments have tolerated racism, and the status quo is not acceptable. It is not enough to not be racist, we must be actively anti-racist. Regardless of race, creed, sexual preference, or religion, it is our job as civil trial attorneys to stand up and shout for all victims of racist activity that we will not allow our government or our people to cause suffering to others.
Let this be clear: We stand with the families of George Floyd, Christopher Cooper, Ahmed Aubrey, and many others to fight against racial inequality.
We cannot let this moment pass without finally saying "enough is enough." CCTLA pledges to listen to those who have been discriminated against, to learn how we can make a meaningful difference, and to act to promote positive change in the justice system. We call on all of our members to make a commitment to support our organization in these efforts, and to do whatever we can on an individual basis.
